The Neighborhood
This is an active beach neighborhood of San Diego called MISSION BEACH . It is a peninsula just south of La Jolla and Pacific Beach surrounded by water with the Pacific Ocean on the west and Mission Bay on the east. It is filled with joggers, walkers, roller skaters, surfers and bicyclists.
My home faces due south which enables one to enjoy great sun all day long. The boardwalk, 50 yards away, runs along the Pacific Ocean for over 5 miles, and is perfect for walking, jogging, or bike rides. I am in walking distance to shopping and dozens of restaurants!!!
A ten minute drive to the north is famous LA JOLLA with it's great nautral ocean beauty. Travel another 10 minutes and you are in Del Mar, another beautiful beach community Go another 15 minutes and you can be at the world famous San Diego Wild Animal Park or Lego Land. Disneyland is all of 90 minutes away from my house. Everything is an easy one day trip.
I am only 5 minutes from Sea World, 10 minutes from historic Old Town San Diego, and just a few more miles from the world renowned San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park with its beautiful gardens, theaters and museums. Downtown San Diego's famous Horton Plaza, Gaslamp District and Seaport Village is only a 15 minute drive. Thirty minutes to the south of me is colorful Tijuana, Mexico. You can park on the US side of the border and walk across to a whole different world of culture.
There are a number of cruise lines operating out of San Diego, both to Mexico and Hawaii. This Home Exchange would be a wonderful opportunity to spend a week or two in our lovely city before or after your cruise.

Other Information
I would prefer non-smokers, but should you smoke, I ask it to be confined to outside areas. I do not have any pets, but don't mind taking care of any. Our exchange dates do not have to coincide with each other as Joan, my traveling companion, has her own house and I could stay with her. In that case we could pick you up at the airport, and help you get settled. I have a wealth of written materials to help you to know San Diego and all that it offers.

The Dates
We are ALWAYS OPEN for a non-simultaneous exchange!!! Long range planning is fine for us - even into 2011 . Drop us a line and let's chat ...

View Feedback About My Exchanges
I am Tom, a retired elementary school teacher, with a variety of interests, especially in the arts and theater. My traveling partner, Joan, is also a retired teacher. We have been traveling independently throughout Europe for the last 15 summers and especially enjoy lingering in one area which enables us to immerse in the local community. Our interests are many; from hiking, race-walking, jogging, to sampling local cuisine, theater, music and museums.
We have had 15 Home Exchanges, with some wonderful feed-back, and will take good care of your home, pets and plants. Send us a note, we look forward to hearing from you.
