The Home
Historic Parnell is right in the heart of Auckland, and there you will find our sunny one level 850 sq foot townhouse with private car park and a beautiful shady courtyard.
If you enter 4/456 Parnell Rd, Auckland, 1052 into http://maps.google.com
You can have a look at it. Best to use the satellite view and you can use the slider on the left to zoom in or out!
The house sleeps six, if the comfortable new queen size bed settee in the lounge is also used, and one bedroom has a queen size double bed and the other has a standard single plus a king size single bed.
There is a modern bathroom with shower, vanity and toilet, refitted 2009, and the good sized kitchen contains an electric stove, fridge/freezer, washing machine and clothes dryer, a microwave, dishwasher and usual small appliances.
The dining area part of the living room has a round antique Regency table and chairs seating six, and the living area has two new three seater settees separated by a coffee table- one becomes a folding bed, and the other has two built in recliners. There is also a 32inch HD LCD TV plus DVD/CD player and a huge range of Sky satelite TV channels.
Off the living room is a beautiful well planted shady and private courtyard with a gas barbeque and teak dining table with four chairs under the trees. Although a busy road is just over the garden wall, it's surprsingly quiet.
The position of the house is what really sets it apart- Parnell is one of the oldest and certainly the prettiest inner city area with many historic buildings, and Auckland's biggest park containing the Auckland museum is a few minutes walk away, as are many excellent shops and restaurants.
Most importantly, you don't need to use a car, as Auckland's cheap "Link" bus service which cirles the central city stops right outside, providing only a few minutes ride to the harbour waterfront or to Newmarket, the premier shopping district. By Auckland cathedral close by you can also catch the Explorer hop on/hop off guided tour bus which covers the whole city.

The Neighborhood
Auckland is sunny and semi sub-tropical (you can grow oranges but not coconuts) and never gets snow (just three or four mild frosts each winter) It's New Zealand's biggest city (1.3 million), and is situated on a narrow isthmus between two lovely harbours with regular boat trips to many islands close by. A beautiful safe clean city which has everything and is very cosmopolitan. It abounds with art galleries, museums, and good shopping, and is very much a pavement cafe society. Most overseas visitors find shopping, eating and living here a real bargain. The city is full of green, tree covered parks, many on extinct volcano cones, and is surrounded by close to a hundred beautifully unspoilt bays and beaches. Within an hour's drive there is so much stunning scenery that to explore it all would take weeks. And further away, under 3 hours north is the beautiful Bay of islands, and two and a half hours south is the central North island Rotorua area, a premier destination for visitors, with trophy trout lakes, forests and mountains, hot mineral pools, geysers and the centre of Maori culture. We also have a lakeside Rotorua holiday home down there (with boats to play with)- available separately or in conjunction- why not a week in each place?
